No signs of plateau at this point in the market. We are still very low on inventory and plentiful with buyers. The past week I wrote two offers. Both were competing offers. One had 2 offers and the second had four others. Price ranges where 240's and 140's respectively, so multiple offers are still being seen at all price levels.
We should see 2009 just as prosperous as 2008.

Greg is right,

MLS.ca was not perfect; but, it was vastly superior to this new abomination. And, if realtor.ca is any indication of how realtor's can "help", our industry is out of touch with the market. By associating ourselves with this new site we are doing ourselves a great disservice. First and foremost - Google already has an online mapping program. All you need to do is input a Postal Code and up comes the address. It is free, fast, efficient, and when used in conjunction with MLS.ca is a great system. CREA, clearly, does not understand the needs of their clients, with regards to access to information, nor the technology with which that information is relayed.

Are St. John's pricing still climbing, or have they plateaued? The economy still appears to be doing okay, but with the global crisis and oil prices dropping, I can't help but think tht the good times might be coming to an end...

I just visited the realtor.ca site for the first time today after using mls.ca for years. The new site is an absolute disaster. You can't find what you want easily, it is terribly slow, and a user interface mess. What were they thinking? Bring back mls.ca -- even with its shortcomings, it was far better than this.

I find it funny on how we stand back and watch the real estate market grow and grow. I ask myself is the promise of a few thousand jobs over a 5 year period going to pay all these high mortgages. I mean we are already in a labor shortage here. Who is actually going to benifit from this increase besides agents and builders. In the long term it think somebody should intervene and monitor the real estate market.I know the goverment will have aa hell of alot more revenue to play with soon but what is the plan for us. Well i guess we like to believe sometimes we are different from the rest of the world but when it all boils down greed wins and the rich get richer and the middle class become poor.
